Tragedy struck at the Kara Cattle Market along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as an 80-year-old trader, Ladan Bature, was stabbed to death during a heated argument. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, revealing that the deceased was attacked in front of the Kara Market mosque by a suspect identified as Haiye Aginni.
Despite frantic efforts by fellow traders and residents to rush Bature to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The incident was promptly reported to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that Bature’s remains have been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for preservation and autopsy. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigations.
The brutal killing has sent shockwaves through the market community, reigniting concerns about safety and conflict resolution among traders. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served.
