Nigerian music superstar Davido has earned a prestigious spot on King Charles III’s Commonwealth Music Playlist, joining an elite lineup of global icons handpicked by the British monarch.
The playlist, curated for Apple Music’s new show, “The King’s Music Room,” reflects the King’s diverse musical taste, spanning genres like Afrobeats, reggae, and disco. It features a mix of legendary and contemporary artists from across the Commonwealth, including Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Raye, and now, Nigeria’s very own Davido.
The special show, recorded in King Charles III’s Buckingham Palace office, will premiere next Monday in honor of Commonwealth Day, an annual celebration of unity among the 56 nations that make up the Commonwealth.
In a heartfelt statement about his song selections, King Charles III expressed his deep personal connection to music:
