A tragic case of domestic violence has rocked Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, as 42-year-old Victor Okoh was arrested for allegedly murdering his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, in a brutal machete attack.
According to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, officers responded to a distress call from concerned residents around 5:20 AM on Monday. Upon arrival, they found Victoria’s lifeless, mutilated body outside the couple’s home, while the suspect had hidden in the ceiling in an attempt to evade arrest.
Police tactically secured the building, forced entry, and apprehended him, recovering the blood-stained machete used in the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Victor Okoh accused his wife of infidelity before launching the savage attack. Authorities have since deposited the victim’s remains at the General Hospital Morgue in Oron LGA, pending an autopsy.
Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John assured that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the heinous crime, vowing that justice will take its full course.
He further warned against domestic violence, urging residents to seek lawful conflict resolution instead of resorting to violence.
