Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert has taken legal action against the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and fellow actress Destiny Etiko over an alleged attempt to unlawfully arrest her.

Hilbert, in a fundamental human rights lawsuit filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos on March 10, 2025, accused the Nigerian police of acting at the behest of Etiko to detain and interrogate her over a controversial video she posted on Instagram on March 7.

Describing the attempted arrest as “illegal, unlawful, and a flagrant violation” of her constitutional rights, the actress is seeking an injunction to prevent her arrest, detention, or questioning. Additionally, she is demanding N100 million in damages for what she calls an “unlawful invasion” of her privacy and freedom.

The legal drama stems from an earlier petition filed by Destiny Etiko, who sued Hilbert for defamation, also demanding N100 million in damages. Hilbert had accused Etiko in a now-deleted video of snatching rich lovers belonging to her colleagues, including her own boyfriend.

The unfolding controversy has set social media ablaze, with fans and Nollywood insiders debating the case, as legal tensions between the two actresses escalate.
