Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose has accused All Progressives Congress (APC) of importing thugs into the state from neighbouring states.
Ekiti state goes to poll on Saturday to elect a new governor and APC candidates Kayode Fayemi is holding a mega rally in the state capital Ado Ekiti.
Party leaders including President Muhammad Buhari are expected to make a last-gasp effort to sell Fayemi’s candidacy to the same people that voted him out of office four years ago.
Fayose, who defeated Fayemi the last time the state went to polls, insisted the APC was behind the influx of thugs into the state.
He, however, appreciated the Ekiti people for complying with the stay at home order of the government.
“I commend the people of Ekiti for complying with our sit-at-home directive.”
” I urge our people to remain indoors for their safety as thugs have invaded the State from Kogi, Ondo and Edo States for the APC campaign rally.”
However, images shared by Fayemi’s campaign organisation on social media showed that surprisingly a huge number of people turned out for the mega rally at Oluyemi Kayode stadium, which is named after the APC candidate.
“Oluyemi Kayode stadium is full as JFK’s @kfayemi’s supporters await their son and the President @mbuhari,” Fayemi Campaign tweeted on Tuesday.
