The ghastly road accident involving some members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of APGA in Imo State which took place at Ubiaja in Edo State, last week has continued to record more deaths among the victims some of them transferred to the emergency wards (casuality) of hospitals in Owerri.
The latest in the death roll is Mr. Michael Nduka, alias, 10:10 who died at St. David’s Hospital, Mbari Street Owerri.

Though the St. David’s Hospital authorities were helpless in attending to the critically injured accident victims as if they were acting a script by those who do not wish to see the young political stalwart, survive the severe degrees of injuries he sustained in the accident, he faced the situation with great equanimity. His case equally brought to the fore, the deep seated insensitivity of one of the Governorship Aspirants on the platform of APGA, who hails from Emekuku in Owerri North LGA of Imo State. Whereas Michale Nduka preferably called 10:10, was rushed to St. David’s Hospital, Owerri where help could not come nor medical treatment administered in good time to reduce the deadly injuries and pains he was writing in, the APGA governorship aspirant who was well informed about the development together with other members of his campaign team gave cold shoulders to his lamentations. The deceased who was brought into the emergency ward of St. David Hospital Owerri on Friday morning from an undisclosed Asaba Hospital was not given any medical treatment until he gave up on Saturday. As at press time, efforts made to reach the Medical Director of St. David’s Hospital to enable him explain the reasons for the reluctance and refusal to offer the victims adequate medical attention were rebuffed as he refused to pick his calls. It was suspected that could be because of the non-provision of a cash deposit for the treatment of the four accident victims at the time of admission.
Regrettably while these accident victims were lying critically ill at St. David’s Hospital, Owerri, the Governorship Aspirant accompanied by party supporters and loyalists loaded in 23 numbers of 18- Seater buses were in Awka, Anambra State, to witness the “Flag- off Campaign rally of Chief Victor Umeh’s Senatorial ambition”.
It was learnt by our reporters, that the Emekuku born Governorship Aspirant, was dully advised by public spirited individuals against embarking on such jamborees at a time when a minimum of 5 members of the state working committee of APGA were either dead or lying critically ill, but he vehemently shoved the advice aside.
However, afraid that his insensitivity has become of a disgraceful public odium and knowledge, as a result of the manner he was reportedly in very high spirit at Awka as if celebrating the deaths of those APGA Executives opposed to his candidature, the sailor turned politician like “medicine after the death” re-appeared at St. David’s Hospital. After the tragicomedy that played out with his presence at the elite Hospital, Micheal Nduka (AKA)10:10 who is also the Zonal Youth leader of APGA, in Orlu Zone, kicked the bucket and was subsequently buried on Sunday at Okwoabali in Orlu LGA.
Touched by the poor state of Medicare administered on the accident victims at St. David’s Hospital, a concerned APGA governorship aspirant who has been handy in both financial assistance and moral boaster, advised that the survivors be moved out to a more humane and caring medical centre, also in Owerri municipality. This explains the reason for the eventual survival of such other accident victims as Madam Victoria, the Olru Zonal Woman Leader, Mr. Gerald Ibegbulem, State Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Raymond Metuh, Assistant Youth Leader who the Community Watchdog reporter, learnt that by the Special Grace of God was as at Press time discharged as an out patient from the new Hospital.
Altogether , APGA has suffered the greatest casualty in the run-down to the 2015 general election while another set of accident victims who had accompanied a gubernatorial Aspirant under the PDP platform from Owerri West, Dr. Emeka Amanze suffered similar ill-fate with 3 deaths with another set of 5 critically unconscious but recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.
