In a very shocking development, the Imo state Secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Owerri, the state capital has been attacked by yet to be identified bombers.
Reacting on the ugly development, the police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, informed that his command was alerted that Improvised Explosives Ordinances, IEDS were hidden at the INEC office in the state, located at port Harcourt road, Owerri.

On reaching the place, he said that the police condoned the Secretariat, behold it was discovered that IEDS were planted beside the INEC data base machine.
According to Mr Enwerem ,the police immediately disarmed it. The PPRO infomed that no arrest has been made to that effect, but according to him investigations are on.
In a related development, the police in Imo state have defused 2 IEDS at OCDA office at port Harcourt road Owerri.
The PPRO disclosed that the police rushed to the place at around 9:30am,Wednesday to defuse the weapons of mass destruction.
DSP Enwerem who enjoined Imo people to be vigilante, said that the police is mindful that there are desperate persons in the state who want to curse pandemonium in the state, but assured that the police will soon bring them to the book of justice.
When asked If the attacks have any political undertone or were penetrated by the boko haram, he was quick to debunk the rumors, but promised to get the culprits soonest.
“The investigations are on, soon, I mean very soon we will apprehend them.I don’t want to be quick in making statements now “the PPRO said.
