Imo State Police Command has hailed Imolites for their collaborative efforts in bursting criminal syndicates in the state.

It is my pleasure to address you once again as we parade some of the modest successful achievements in crime management and control in Imo State. Our strategic offensive against criminals through collaborative efforts with members of the community, credible intelligence and forensic digital analysis has once again yielded tremendous result.
2. On 4/10/2018 operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit of the Command arrested the above named suspects in their hide-out at Esit Eket in Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom state in connection with Armed robbery/kidnap of one Atigoku Beatrice ‘f’ of Achara Umuaka Njaba LGA on 18/9/2018. The above named suspects were arrested by operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit of the Command on 22/10/2018 and 24/10/2018 respectively in their hide-out at Amato Amuzi Aboh Mbaise LGA in connection with the kidnap of the above named victims. Suspects are members of a kidnap syndicate who specialize in terrorizing residents of Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA and its environs. Victim Chimma Uchegbu, wife of Anglican priest in-charge of Emmanuel Anglican Church Amumara Ezinihitte Mbaise was rescued unhurt in an isolated building at Amato Amauzi Aboh Mbaise LGA. Suspects led operatives to a grave where the aforementioned arms and ammunition were recovered. Suspects have made useful statement to the police confessing to the crime and the where about of other fleeing members of the gang.

On 24/10/2018, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit of the Command arrested the above named suspect who went to Orji Town Primary School and abducted one Nwaigwe Victor Chidera a nursery 1 pupil. Suspect has made useful statements to the police confessing to the crime and has been charged to court accordingly.

CASE 4B – KIDNAP OF CORPS MEMBERS

On 28/10/2018, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit of the Command following a tip-off arrested the above named suspects at Nkaragha junction and other hide-outs in connection with the kidnap of six National Youth Service Corps members. The youth corps members along with other passengers were travelling from Ibadan Oyo State to their orientation camp in Port Harcourt Rivers State and Uyo in Akwa Ibom State respectively On 24/10/2018 when the hoodlums waylaid, robbed them of their assorted handsets and other personal belongings and took the youth corps into the nearby forest and open up negotiation for ransom of five million naira (#5, 000, 000.00). On receipt of the information, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit in synergy with police operatives attached to Counter Terrorist Unit of the Command swung into action, combed the Nkaragha forest and rescued the youth corps members unhurt and some of their properties recovered. In pursuance of the hoodlums, the above named suspects were arrested. Suspects have made useful statements to the crime and other kidnap/armed robbery incidents bedeviling Avu/Umuapu/Port Harcourt road and the robbery/murder of one late Augustine Ejimebu ‘m’ age 69yrs of Umuchidike Apani in Ikwerrre LGA of Rivers state a neighboring community to Imo state. Suspects also confess to belong to deadly Degbam cult group and are helping the police to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.

Sequel to the armed robbery/kidnap of the above named victim on 25/09/2018, operatives of Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command swung into action and arrested the above named suspects on 10/10/2018. Efforts are in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the gang. Suspects have been charged to court accordingly.

6. ARREST OF CHILD TRAFFICKING SUSPECT
SUSPECT:
Tina Timothy ‘f’ age 27yrs of Nsukka L.G.A in Enugu State.
Following a tip – off, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit of the Command while on routine patrol on 10/10/2018 arrested the above named suspect at Ngor Okpala L.G.A in possession of two new born baby boys whom she could not satisfactorily account for. Upon through interrogation, suspect made useful statement confessing that she bought the two new born baby boys at Oghoko in Rivers State at the sum of One Million Eight Hundred Thousand naira (1, 800, 000. 00). One of the babies subsequently took ill and was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment where the baby later died. Investigation has been concluded and suspect charged to court accordingly.

7. ARREST OF KIDNAP/ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

CASE 7 – SOLOMON OHAEGBULAM

1. Solomon Ohaegbulam ‘m’ 37yrs of Orugwene Warri in Delta State but residing at Transformer Ihiagwa Road Nekede in Owerri West L.G.A Imo State.
VICTIM: Ogechi Akuchie ‘f’ 29yrs of Okwoba Umuachi Mbieri in Mbaitoli L.G.A Imo State
Following the robbery/kidnap of the above named victim on 28/07/2018 at Okwoba Umuachi Mbieri in Mbaitoli L.G.A Imo State, operatives of Anti – Kidnapping Unit of the Command swung into action and stormed the hide – out of the hoodlums in a thick forest at Obosima in Ohaji/Egbema L.G.A on 11/10/2018 where the above named suspect was arrested and three others. Suspect has confessed to crime and has made useful statements that will help track down the other fleeing members of the gang. Investigation is in progress.

8. RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM
VICTIM: Christian Duru ‘m’ 60 yrs old
On 19/09/2018, operatives of Anti – Kidnapping Unit of the Command acting on a tip – off rescued the above named kidnapped victim at Awo – Omamma in Oru – East L.G.A of Imo State. Victims Toyota Highlander jeep was also recovered. Efforts are on top gear to track down the hoodlums for possible prosecution.

Following the kidnap of the above named victim on 06/09/2018 at Ukwu-Orji in Mbaitoli L.G.A, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit swiftly swung into action and subsequently arrested the above named suspects in their hide-out at Ukwu-Orji in Mbaitoli L.G.A in connection with the crime. One handset believed to be used in negotiation of ransom and two hundred thousand naira (200, 000.00) part of the ransom paid to the hoodlums was also recovered. Suspects have made useful statements to the police confessing to the crime and other kidnap cases along Ukwu-Orji/Onitsha road and its environs. Suspects have been charged to court accordingly.

CASE 11 – LIVINGWORD OKORIE

1. Livingword Okorie aka ‘Busy body’ ‘m’ 23 years old of No. 3 Nzimiro Oguta LGA of Imo State.
2. Ugochukwu Okonkwo aka ‘Don’t Hudge’ ‘m’ 22 years old of Umuokpu Awka South LGA of Anambra State.
VICTIM: Mrs. Emmanuella Anene
On 21/10/2018, five armed men attacked the above named victim, robbed her of reasonable amount of money and shot her on her left thigh. Victim was rushed to hospital but couldn’t make it. Upon receipt of the information, operatives of F-SARS of the Command swung into action and subsequently arrested the above named suspects on 25/10/2018 at Ogumma Oguta and Philip Udom road both in Oguta L.G.A Imo State respectively in connection with the crime. Suspects have made useful statements concerning the crime admitting that one of their gang members still at large is in possession of the arm used in committing the crime and are helping the Police in the investigation.

The above named suspects were arrested by operatives of F – SARS of the Command in connection with robbery of the above named victim’s Toyota Venza car which was robbed from her driver on gun point on 06/10/2018 at Egbeada by Ukoromi filling station. On 23/10/2018, operatives of F – SARS of the Command arrested the above named suspects at Ochez Hotel Plot 448 Nkwerre Street Works Layout Owerri Imo State. Suspects have been on the wanted list of the Command for several armed robbery and murder cases in Owerri and its environs as well as the robbing and shooting of one of their victim’s who escaped death by the whiskers at Stone Castle Hotel Okigwe Road Owerri. Suspects have made useful statements confessing to be members of Vikings Confraternity. Investigation is on-going and suspects will be charged accordingly.

EXHIBIT RECOVERED:
i. One pump action gun.
ii. One cut – to – size single barrel gun
Following the robbery/kidnap of the above named victim on 06/07/2018 at Umuagwo Okwele Onuimo LGA, Imo State and the shooting of his police orderly one Sgt Bright Emerenjo on his right hand, operatives of the F – SARS of the Command swung into action. Consequently, the above named suspects were arrested at Ufoma Anambra State on 7/9/2018 and Ihiagwa in Owerri West LGA Imo State on 25/09/2018 respectively after a painstaking and systematically coordinated operation and one pump action gun also recovered. Investigation is in progress and suspects would be charged accordingly soonest.

On 1/10/2018, operatives of the F – SARS of the Command arrested the above named suspects along Hospital road junction Owerri while trying to dispose a unsuspecting victim of his valuables such as phone and money on gun point. One locally made revolver pistol with one round of ammunition was also recovered from the suspects. Suspects have made useful statements to the police and investigation is in progress.

Two cut to size double barrel guns with one live ammunition.
The above named suspect was arrested at Ogwuaga Abba in Nwangele LGA, Imo State on 7/11/2018 by operatives of F – SARS of the Command in connection with the abduction and rape of one Ebere Nwachukwu ‘f’ 18 years old. Suspect has made useful statements confessing his involvement to series of armed robbery cases within Nwangele area. Two cut-to-size double barrel guns and one live cartridge were also recovered from the suspect. Investigation is in progress.

Operatives of the F – SARS of the Command acting on a tip-off while on routine patrol on 1/10/2018 arrested the above named suspects along Udenwa Estate roundabout in possession of one locally made pistol and one live cartridge. Investigation is on-going.

EXHIBIT RECOVERED:

On 24/10/2018, operatives of Okigwe Area Command acting on a tip – off arrested the above named suspect for being in possession of one locally made pistol. Suspect has been charged to court accordingly.

VICTIM:

2. Hillary Ekezie ‘m’ of Ihie village in Ohaji/Egbema L.G.A.
On 15/10/2018, following a tip – off, operatives of Ohaji division of the Command arrested the above named suspect in connection with the kidnap of the Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. Suspect and members of his gang have been terrorizing Ihie/Obitti axis of Ohaji/Egbema L.G.A and has made useful statement to the police confessing his involvement in the crime and several other crimes in the area. Suspect has been charged to court accordingly.

The above named suspects were arrested on 15/09/2018 by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit on routine stop and search along Amakohia/Akwakuma Secondary School Axis. Suspects were intercepted while trying to rob unsuspecting passer-bys and others escaped. Suspects have made useful statements to the police confessing to belong to a gang of armed robbers who have been terrorizing Amakohia/Akwakuma and environs and dispossessing several members of the public of their phones and other valuables. The above listed exhibits were also recovered from the suspects. Meanwhile, efforts are being intensified to track down other members of the gang now at large. Investigation is in progress.

21. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT


SUSPECT: Chizuru Nwosu ‘m’
EXHIBIT RECOVERED :
i. One locally made pistol with one live cartridge.
The above named suspect was arrested on 22/10/2018 by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit on routine stop and search along Imo State University Front gate Axis. Suspects numbering about three (3) operating with a red colour Haojin motorcycle with Reg. No. WER 322 QL were intercepted for routine search. Suspects on sighting the operatives alighted from the motorcycle and took to their heels. Suspects were given a hot chase which led to the subsequent arrest of the above named and the recovery of the above listed exhibit. Suspect has made useful statement to the police confessing to belong to a gang of armed robbers who have been terrorizing Owerri metropolis and its sub-urban. Efforts are on top gear to track down the other two fleeing members of the gang now at large. Investigation is in progress.
