A staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State Hon. Dr. Basil Ekweke has advocated for the Deputy Speaker of Imo House of Assembly to be given to the member-elect for Ikeduru state constituency Ambassador Uche Ogbuagu.
While congratulating. Ogbuagu on his final declaration Saturday as the winner of the House of Assembly election after the re-run in some polling units, Ekweke said that Ogbuagu contributed immensely to the success PDP at the various elections in Imo State through massive advertorial propaganda in the media.
Ekweke further said that Ogbuagu had rich experience as a creative artiste who had once served in government in the state and made heavy inputs as the Head of Creative Media during the Jonathan/Sambo Presidential campaign in 2015.
“The only way to begin to appreciate all the good works Amb Uche Ogbuagu has done for PDP is to give him the Deputy Speaker position,” Ekweke asserted.
In the final result of the contest, Ogbuagu polled 18,791 to beat other candidates. APC had 4,042, APGA 3,314 and AA 2,646.
Ekweke at the same time, congratulated the Governor-elect Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on his well deserved and resounding victory in the governorship election. “Imo people are lucky to have Rt. Hon. Ihedioha as their governor this time around. As a tested and trusted technocrat, the governor-elect is going to give Imo State good governance the like of which Imo State enjoyed during the time of Dee Sam Mbakwe,” he said.
Ekweke again seized the opportunity to congratulate the state chairman of PDP Chief Barr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem and all PDP leadership in Imo State for winning the governorship election in the state for the party.
“I supported Ezekwem from Okigwe Zone to become state chairman of PDP because of the stuff I saw in him. Today he has delivered the goods for which I supported him. To God be the glory,” Ekweke concluded.
