With the Imo State Chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria [AGN] leadership tussle getting deeper every day, indications have emerged on why Conac Umez should be considered as the legitimate leader of the guild.
With the Chikodi Nwafor (aka Mopol) led camp battling to convince members that they are the legitimate group, they released a weapon that later backfired on them. The group through one of their front liners Ogwa N. Ogwa made public the court judgment that stopped Ibinabo Fibersima as the National President, without taking time to read the part that says that the Emeka Ike led government has no right to dissolve the state chapters.
The number eight of the judgment reads: “That the 1st and 2nd Defendant are restrained from dissolving any state chapter of the guild”
With this document made public, it turned out to be Conac’s salvation rather than his doom as was planned by the Mopol led camp. The document also went ahead to show the lack of enlightenment on the opposition camp, who did not take time to know that the said document will ruin them.
So far, Mr. Umez Chibueze Nnanna pupolarly known as Conac Umez has urged members to restrain from any meeting convened by Mopol, threatening more sanctions on members who identify with them.
Other parts of the judgment reads as follows.
1. That the Defendants Notice of preliminary objection is unfounded and it’s hereby dismissed
2. That the tenure of the Board of trustees of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria comprising prince Ifeanyi Dike, Emmanuel Oguguah, Murphy Stephen, sunny Mc Don and Okey Mc Anthony has since expired.
3. That the election of 2nd Defendant as the president of the Actors guild of Nigeria and other members officers of the AGN is contemptuous to this Honourable court, and therefore null and void
4. That the 1st and 2nd defendant shall forthwith surrender all the paraphernalia of their offices as members of the BOT of the AGN, including but not limited to the Guild’s cheque books, Certificate of incorporation, common seal, etc in their custody to the Guild or any designated officer of the Guild.
5. That the 1st and 2nd defendant are restrained from operating all the bank accounts of the AGN, particularly the accounts with UBA, Ecobank, First Bank and Access Bank. Plc
6. That 1st and 2nd defendants, their servants, agents and/or privies shall render an account for all the funds received in the name and on behalf of the AGN.
7. That the firm of Vincent Ahwi $ Co, chartered accountants of No. 129, okota rd Atinuke complex, Lagos State shall audit the account of the AGN
8. That the 1st and 2nd Defendant are restrained from dissolving any state chapter of the guild.
9. That the 1st and 2nd Defendant their servants, agents and/or privies are restrained from conducting or supervising any election relating to the AGN whether at National or State level.
10. That the 1st and 2nd defendant their servants, agents and/or privies are restrained from parading themselves as trustees, president and officials of the AGN.
11. That the BOT of AGN as currently being constituted by Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Emmanuel Oguguah, Murphy Stephen, Sunny Mc Don, and Okey Mc Anthony is hereby dissolved
12. That the 2nd defendant is not the president of AGN.
13. That the rendering of account by the 1st and 2nd defendant or their servants, agents and privies as well as auditing of the account of the AGN shall be completed within a period of 90 days from 17th March 2015.
Issued at Lagos under the seal of the court and the hand of the presiding judge this 16th day of March 2015.
So far, the situation is favouring Conac because even if Ibinabo Fibersima goes down, he will still be there owing to the fact that his regime is still on, while the ‘self-acclaimed’ chairman Mopol, does not have any election to back up his regime.
