On Monday, the social media was abuzz with reports that Prof Maurice Iwu, who heads the committee has resigned and rather sought for an “advisory role”

Iwu had last week said there is no case of coronavirus in the state, as the committee has put in place measures to check the spread of the virus in the State.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, he said “We are prepared to take any proactive measure. Henceforth, wash your hands with soap and water; wash frequently after having contact with people, use sanitizers when there is no water.

“Keep social distance to protect yourself and people around you, minimize over -crowding and unnecessary travels, because you do not know who you are going to meet and the Taskforce is trying to make it public to avoid over-crowding”
