The soft spoken former Minister of State for Education under the Jonathan Administration, Professor Mrs. Viola Onwuliri had broken her long silence since after the May 2015 election in reaction to the Federal Ministerial allocation to Imo State which she has described as a slight on the Governor and the people of Imo State.
In phone chat with our correspondent, Professor Onwuliri argued that Imo State as the only state in the South East under the control of the Federal government ruling political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) deserves better appointment than a junior minister to a man who has been a University Vice Chancellor and Secretary to the State government.
She further argued that apart from the fact that the state is the only APC controlled state in South East the state governor as the Chairman of the Governors Forum deserves more than this slap on the face, adding that Ndi Imo should not expect more than this for now.
She re-iterated that South East geo-Political Zone had better deal under the Goodluck Jonathan Administration where she was initially appointed a junior minister for Foreign Affairs which she described as being more viable alongside with the Ministry of Finance, Power, Labour and Productivity as well as the Office of the Secretary to the Federal government, with Ndigbo retaining the position of Deputy Senate President.
Professor Onwuliri said that she had decided to remain silent for sometime because when she opted to tell Imo people the truth, assassins were sent after her life even though according to her, cannot deter her from being on the side of the people but that Imolites should not expect any magic to happen now because whatever they see today is what they bargained and there will be no change.
She contended that the present administration has nothing at stake since it had no plans to seek for re-election in 2019 and therefore has nothing to lose and advised those who criticized the Jonathan administration towards the South Eastern state to make their comparism now and access the result.
