Immediate governor of Im/o State, Emeka Ihedioha has gone to court to stop the Imo State House of Assembly from probing him over the missing N19.63billion Local Government fund.
It could be recalled that the Speaker of the State Assembly upon receiving the Local Government Auditor General report from Governor Hope Uzodinma, mandated the Public Accounts Committee to look into the issue.
Daily Nigerian Horn also learnt that Chief Chuka Odom, whose company, Wall House was involved in the contract, was part of the whole idea of instituting a court action against the Imo House of Assembly.
Confirming the story, a top appointee of the Ihedioha government who pleaded for anonymity, said the story is true that Ihedioha has gone to court to stop his alleged probe describing the whole probe as witch hunting.
He said: “Yes, I can confirm that our boss has gone to court to stop this wicked plot to tarnish his image by this government. We will do all within the ambit of the law to see that Ihedioha or anybody who worked in his government was not ridiculed by the Uzodinma government”.
Meanwhile six Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members of the Imo State House of Assembly have petitioned the Speaker, Chiji Collins alleging their non inclusion in the Public Accounts Committee, PAC.
According to one of them, the idea of PAC was aimed at checkmating the excesses of the Government in power hence it is the sole responsibility of the opposition or the minority party to occupy.
They urged the Speaker to cancel and withdraw members of PAC who are in the ruling party and appoint members of the opposition into the committee.
