The Imo State Government has reacted to the judgement of the Federal High Court, Owerri, which sacked from office the 27 Interim Management Committees of the 27 Local Governments in the State.

Justice Ringim had ordered the reinstatement of Chairmen and Councillors elected into office during the reign of former Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The Jurist in his ruling described the IMC Chairmen as “ghost workers”, saying it is recklessness and executive lawlessness on the part of the executives to sack duly elected local government Chairmen.

The sacked LGA Chairmen in a statement signed by its spokesman, Hon. Chief Obidigbo Emeka Osuorji, appealed to Governor Uzodinma not to appeal the ruling of the Federal High Court and reinstate them. They pledged their loyalty to Governor Uzodinma on the grounds that they are of the same political party.

Reacting to the judgement, Imo State Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, C.O.C Akaolisa, Sunday advised all parties involved in the matter to maintain status quo.
