The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has congratulated Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for taking a pragmatic step towards helping to recover the dying Igbo language, which he described as identity of Ndi Igbo.

Prince Madumere made this commendation shortly after a special forum titled “the Globalization of Igbo Language”, which held at Imo International Convention Center, Owerri Imo State this evening.

According to a press release signed by the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, Uche Onwuchekwa, the number citizen of Imo State decried the nonchalant attitude of some Igbo leaders and parents who have turned the unfortunate dying Igbo culture to mere rhetoric at various fora.

Speaking further, Prince Madumere described Governor Okorocha’s declaration of Compulsory Teaching and learning of Igbo Language in Imo Schools as a practical approach towards retrieving the proud culture of the Igbo people, which is defined in Igbo language.

Continuing, he called on the good people of Imo State and Igbo in general to complement Governor Okorocha’s effort by ensuring that their children and households speak Igbo language and get exposed to the culture of Ndi Igbo that are consistent to cherished values of Ndi Igbo.

He therefore congratulated Governor Okorocha for yet another feat and pragmatic step towards restoring the dignity of Ndi Igbo especially with the launching of Igbo newspaper, which will provide a means through which Igbo culture will be promoted and projected to the world.
