Speaking to journalists in his office yesterday, the APGA boss said that the governor had no reason to stagemanage an accident scene because he had nothing to hide as the governor of Imo State.
He said “How can the governor fake his accident when the man whose car rammed into his is still in the police custody with his car. The police are still investigating the real cause of the accident.
“So Governor Okorocha will have no reason to stagemange the accident because he’s not involved in any crime”, he said.
On the invitation of the commissioner for Finance, Mr. Chike Okafor and the Accountant-General of Imo State, by the EFCC, which many said was the reason behind the alleged stagemanaging of the accident, Okaforanyanwu said that that would not be the first time the antigraft commission would invite them because of their positions.
He said much as some people would continue to write frivolous petitions to the EFCC, the two officers would continue to be invited to defend such allegations.
Prince Okaforanyanwu maintained that the APGA government led by Governor Okorocha detest corruption, a development he said motivated the government to take J-Pross to court and forced it to refund the money it got from the state government through the connivance of the former deputy governor.
He said the governor had to travel as a precautionary move to forestall any damage and that not because of the EFCC as the governor has immunity.
On the rumours that the governor was refused the United Kingdom Visa to travel to London through the instruction of the presidency, the APGA chairman said Governor Okorocha never went for visa because his visa had not expired for him to apply for a new one.
He said the rumours were the handiwork of detractors who always look for any excuse to discredit the governor’s good works out common envy and jealousy.
He also took a swipe at those who say the local government election would not hold because the governor had left APGA and is currently without party, saying Owelle Okorocha still remains a member of the party until the process of merger into All Progressive Congress were consummated.
