The immediate past Legal Adviser of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, Barr. C.O.C. Akaolisa has asked the former Governor of the State, Chief Achike Udenwa to publicly render the statement of account of the things he did with the 2015 presidential campaign funds allocated to the state in 2015 to ensure victory for the Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Speaking to Nigeria Newspoint, weekend, on the current ordeal of Chief Udenwa in the hands of the anti-graft Agency, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Barr. Akaolisa said that it was not enough for the ex-governor to render accounts to EFCC, but should as a matter of clarity give an account of how he expended the funds to the state PDP and the people of the state.
Akaolisa, an Owerri based legal practitioner stated that as former member of the state executive of the PDP, Chief Udenwa never called a meeting or disclosed how much was given to the state for the presidential election .
Barr. Akaolisa said, “I call on Chief Achike Udenwa to come out clean and tell Imo PDP how much he received and what he did with it. He worked alone, spent the funds alone without recourse to the Imo PDP”.
The legal adviser alleged that how Chief Udenwa spent the funds fell short of what is expected of a former Governor.
“We are not aware of how much he received on behalf of the PDP”, accusing the erstwhile governor of fraudulently obtaining the fund and using same to rehabilitate himself.”
While alleging that the former Governor diverted the presidential campaign funds to personal use, he said that the former governor would be doing himself good by rendering an open account.
He recalled that he had in previous interviews alleged that Chief Udenwa reportedly used the funds to revive himself, while living the party exco in limbo.
Barr. Akaolisa claimed that Chief Udenwa’s attitude caused the PDP the electoral gains in the 2015 elections.
Airing his views on the forthcoming state congress of the party, Barr. Akaolisa said that there is nothing like harmonization, saying that those who clamour for that has no support base and are afraid of credible elections.
“Some leaders who are calling for harmonization have no electoral value and they are afraid of credible elections. I therefore call on the congress committee led by the deputy governor of Abia State not to succumb to intimidation and do what is right’ he said.
While declaring his interest to run for a position at the congress, Barr. Akaolisa said that there is no crisis in the party and threatened court action if any harmonization is carried out.
