Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu says the house impeached the erstwhile state Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso based on facts before it.
The speaker stated that as a lawmaking institution, the house was not bound to do the job of law enforcement agencies.
He spoke to a national newspaper which published the report in its Thursday, May 2, 2013.

Said Uwajumogu:’We are not an investigative agency. Imo State House of Assembly is a lawmaking institution. We are not bound by the rules of engagement of the law enforcement agency. In the house of assembly, we deal with what we have seen. What we were investigating was the reason for the stoppage and abandonment of projects.
He abandoned the road for more than eight months and when the impeachment started, the man moved back to site. The committee called the police and the police arrested him. and it is very interesting the statement the contractor made at the police station. Also in the statement, he indicted the former deputy governor.’
The speaker denied that they were bribed to impeach Sir Agbaso.
