Four members of the same family lost their lives early thursday morning after an uncompleted three storey building collapsed wednesday at Agbama Housing Estate, Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Goverment Area of Abia State
The building which collapsed at about 8.30pm saw sympathizers flooding the estate which lies few metres away from both the Federal Low Cost Housing and World Bank Housing Estates in Umuahia North Local Council Area of the state.

According to eye witness accounts the building which already has cracks all over went down in rubbles at about 8.30pm collapsing on seven people under the building which was said to have been standing for close to ten years.
According to one Augustine Ewuru who lost his brother David and his two kids aged 18 months and 4 years respectively as well as his mother, simply known as Mama Ogoja when the collapse occured there was a quick response by residents of the estate as well as the other adjourning estates who came in for a rescue operation which lasted for close to fifteen hours.
According to Augustine, three survivors which included late David’s wife as well one person who had come on a rescue mission and one worker who was working at the building which was said to be undergoing a reonforcement work as at the time of the collapse.
As at thursday morning efforts were still in top gear to see if there could be other survivors under the debric evev as those who survived the incident were still receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre where medics worked round the clock to keep the survivors living.
Meanwhile, the state goverment has called for investigations into the remote cause of the collapse with the state governor visiting the survivors at the medical centre.
The state governor who was represented by his deputy, sir Emeka Ananaba told the survivors to be thankful to God for saving them even as he called on doctors and nurses at the medical center to do their utmost to ensure that those who survived the incident get well quick.
As at time of this report, efforts were still on to see if there could be other survivors trapped under the rubble while the owner of the collapsed building is yet to be ascertained.
