Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has advised Nigerians not to leave the destiny of the country in the hands of government alone.

Makinde made this disclosure while speaking on Thursday.

He called on Nigerians to continue to join hands to make the country a better place to live.

Makinde, who spoke during an ‘Independence Day Walk’, added that the unity of Nigeria is paramount.

The governor who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun, urged Nigerians not to leave everything about the country for the government alone.

“We should not leave it for the government alone.

“We are asking all of us, the good people of Oyo State, to put our hands together to work to make Oyo State and Nigeria better.

“We have just had a walk commemorating the 61st anniversary of Nigeria.

“We are a government that is very interested in sports development. So, this walk today shows how fit we are,” he said.

“I believe you can also see all the members of the cabinet present here, walking to commemorate Nigeria.

“The message on this is multiple. The first one is that Nigeria is 61 and there are a lot of things we need to be proud about, having achieved them as a nation. But there is still a lot of work to be done.

“We are asking all of us, the good people of Oyo State, to put our hands together to work to make Oyo State and Nigeria better”.
