Members of Imo State Based Artistes League were out in their numbers to pay respect to late highlife music legend, Nze Dan Orji in an event tagged ‘Bongo Crusade For Dan Orji’.

The event which also marked the Independence Day Celebration of Nigeria at Nze Dan Orji Bongo Square, Owerri, Imo State was never limited to only Bongo artistes as others from other genres were also on stage to thrill an audience which included Chief Of Staff to Government House Owerri, Hon. Uche Nwosu; Federal House of Representatives member, Deac. Chike Okafor; Secretary to Imo State Government, Sir George Eche; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Njoku, Chief Chidi Ibe, amongst other top government officials, Nollywood actors, Nze Dan Orji Orji’s family and a teaming crowd.

With the likes of Ababanna, Owigiri, Shama Melody, Holy Man, Bongo Queen leading Bongo artistes on the tribute concert, there was also a heart touching performance from the son of the late music icon, Chinedu Orji who reminded the crowd of what his father used to do.

Hip-hop artistes like Keony, Acharaman, Suspense, Nonny, Dj Harmonix, amongst other also got on stage, while MC Egbeigwe, MC Evangelist, MC Banana Mouth and Mr. Mouth were also on stage in the event which was anchored by Broda Bossman and Okwuruoha. There was also another special performance by Otenkwu 1 of Africa, who performed his special ‘Tombo Liquor’ and other tracks.

Speaking at the event, Chinedu Orji revealed that he is impressed that people want to gather in his father’s name. He revealed that he is proud of his father and wishes that everyman could live like him.

Chinedu Orji who took after his father in music revealed that there would be a memorial service later on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the church, with a reception that will see another round of music at their country home at Orji Uratta, in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

There were also unending tributes for the music legend from artistes, while others also hailed the Chairman of Imo State Based Artiste League and SA to Governor Okorocha on Protocol and Entertainment, Hon. Iruno Chukwunonye who has revamped Bongo Square into a high class relaxation spot in Imo State.

Hon. Iruno Chukwunonye who is still going by the words of the Governor to artistes; ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet’, said there are still more to come for the artistes in the state. He said that his office is committed to changing the face of entertainment in the state, adding that the support of the state governor, has made everything possible and artistes should keep expecting more.

“Everything you see here are for the entertainers and we want Bong Square to be something that has never been here before. It will be that special entertainment hub; that high-class spot where everyone will be getting a shot and that spot that will ensure entertainment in Imo State moves to the next level” Hon. Iruno concluded.
