Transnational Corporation (Transcorp) co-founder, Nicholas Okoye, has condemned the comments about the company by Anambra governorship hopeful, Chukwuma Soludo.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) flagbearer and former Governor Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had claimed he was the brain behind Transcorp.

Soludo affirmed the pronouncement during the governorship debate by Arise News and Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, Okoye, a former Merrill Lynch banker, described the assertion as false.

He recalled introducing the Transcorp idea to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in America during a visit to former President Bill Clinton.

The capital expert said during the formation, the promoters held over ten meetings with Obasanjo and Soludo did not attend one.

Okoye added that at no point did the former Nigerian leader direct him to meet or work with Soludo on the project.

The entrepreneur revealed that his name and signature are on the registration documents of Transcorp.

“Our first deal was the purchase of Nicon Nuga Hilton Hotel in Abuja which Val Ozigbo (PDP Anambra guber candidate) later transformed. I negotiated and signed all the documents.

“Soludo was never part of Transcorp. I am shocked that the former CBN Governor would make such false claims just to gain a political advantage.”

Okoye further dismissed Soludo’s remark that he recruited Ozigbo into Transcorp.

“Soludo was long gone as CBN Governor. Ndidi Okereke-Onyiuke who can make the claims Soludo is making was also gone. It is a lie, please”, he said.
