In the words of the Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, “he is a man who fights for nothing yet gets everything….” A remark made in his introductory speech to usher in the nation’s number two citizen and the Acting President of Nigeria, His Excellency Yemi Osinbajo, to the podium before a mammoth crowd which came out en-masse to receive him at the Imo International Convention Center (IICC). Clearly it was a statement directed at the Acting President but, however it appeared to have also strayed to not just Osinbajo but another like Osinbajo!
Seated not too far from the Acting President was a reflective copy of Owelle’s description of the Acting President Osinbajo, the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere! A man that carries much of Osinbajo in him as widely interpreted by the assertion of the Imo state Governor on the Acting President; he said: “the Acting President keeps forgetting the lofty position he occupies, I have never seen one with so much humility”. One of the rare characters also very typical of Prince Eze Madumere; as the Imo State Deputy Governor, he never ceases to stoop the ladder of social strata to get across to his people. Notwithstanding achievements so far, overwhelmed by the humility of the Acting President, the Governor of Imo State remains one man who understands the significance of humility in aiding true leadership to success like he enjoys at present.
Even in a world polluted with much hate, distrust and envy, lying there somewhere is the much needed unit that consolidates a person’s life endeavour; dependable enough to maneuver through inevitable thick and thins on the path of man’s existence as nature has so designed it. Apparently, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari, may have found this un-detachable unit in Professor Yemi Osinbajo; no doubt too, the Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, finds his in Prince Eze Madumere.
When the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere came out for the umpteenth time to further clear the air on the lasting and enduring relationship that exists between him and his boss, the executive Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. Clearly and emphatically, he said, in quote, “nothing can separate me and Rochas”. It wasn’t just a mouthed declaration, but rather a statement of fact! Obviously clear to all who have always seen the commitment and bond that exist between the duo!
Madumere’s humility, loyalty and capacity afford him that uncommon strength that enables a constant reiteration of an age-long loyalty intended to rejuvenate the cogent relationship that exists between him and Owelle Rochas Okorocha. He maintains a resolute stance to his boss’s course without giving any room to suspicion or reasons to be doubted; completely giving himself up for the rise of his boss and mentor, showcasing loyalty engineered by humility.
Placing the character of Prof. Osinbajo on the table of Nigerian politics side by side with that of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, only reveals the contemporariness of worthy leadership, which was made even clearer with the message of the Acting President at the Imo State Government House Chapel on the “Contrarian Principle”, highlighting basically the devaluation of flesh in man (desires) which constantly rebels against the spirit of God that seeks to positively direct man.
Osinbajo’s message on the altar of God injects so much air to the much intent curried in the want of man, and unwillingness to do the right things to achieve it, stating clearly that the only route to greatness is “humility”. High positions can be reached in life, but it doesn’t make one great; humility is the key, he said (in quote). To an extent, this must have triggered the Imo state Governor’s appreciative enquiry to the , he said, “Your attitude must have determined your altitude?”
Truly, as Osinbajo released the spirit-led words, he was subconsciously telling a story that is already being translated by one man in Imo, Prince Eze Madumere! So there is no gain-saying the fact that Prince Eze Madumere is a great man on the path of greater things to come!
It is also a lesson for all of us to lead a life of humility. Some of those who occupied the position of authority should learn a lesson of humility of Jesus Christ. Governor Okorocha has learn such Godly attitude, little wonder he does so even with the lowly in the society. The blessings therein can only be appreciated by blessed persons like the Acting President Osinbajo, Governor Okorocha and his humbly deputy, Prince Madumere.
