Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has said he hopes to finish higher in the Ballon d’Or rankings next after he was rated the seventh best player in the world in 2021.
Salah scored 31 times for the Reds in the 2020/2021 campaign.
This year, the Egyptian already had 19 goals and eight assists in 19 appearances.
When asked by Amazon how he felt about this year’s Ballon d’Or vote, which saw Lionel Messi win it for a record seventh time, Salah replied: “I have no comment,” before adding that he “hopefully” will finish higher next year.
Salah netted twice in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Merseyside rivals Everton.
“The message from the manager was that they will play physically strong and go 100% for every ball; we just had to play our game and try to create chances, which we did.
“I expected him [Coleman] to do a mistake which he did. The game was tough at 2-1 but at 3-1 it becomes much better,” he said after the game.
