Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has reportedly blocked defender, Diogo Dalot, from leaving Old Trafford in January. Calcio Mercato reports.

Dalot is keen to reunite with his former manager, Jose Mourinho at AS Roma in the upcoming January transfer window.

Mourinho is a long-time admirer of Dalot, having signed him from FC Porto in 2018 during his time at Man United.

Roma director Tiago Pinto has made contact with Dalot’s agent and had an ‘agreement in principle’ for the move.

But Rangnick has now put a stop to Dalot’s reported plans to leave Man United for Roma after discovering the 22-year-old is set to leave the Red Devils.

Dalot has made just 27 Premier League appearances at Man United since joining the club, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the preferred choice under former manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Portugal star has, however, started both of Rangnick’s two Premier League games so far and could now become the club’s first-choice right-back if he continues to impress the German.

Meanwhile, Mourinho will now have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements in his squad as Dalot will be hoping for regular playing time under Rangnick.
