Former governor of Imo State and Senator representing Orlu Zone in the state, Rochas Anayo Okorocha has blamed Governor Hope Uzodinma for the recent arrest of his son-in-law Uche Nwosu.

Senator Okorocha in an interview with Arise TV condemned the manner in which Uche Nwosu was arrested, adding that if such could happen to a former gubernatorial candidate, how then will ordinary citizens be treated in a similar issue.

He said that his son-in-law is innocent, describing a recent viral video linking him to proscribed POB’s Eastern Security Network as funny.

Okorocha wondered why a criminal who was arrested and interrogated about a month ago would be paraded in designers’ dresses and made to say things that are obviously scripted.

On the manner of the arrest, he said that it was obviously a government house job, adding that the officers who were acting under the authorities of the state governor desecrated the house of God by carrying out what he (Okorocha) referred to as abduction in the church.

He said that in the process his wife was assaulted, while his daughter and wife of the victim had her dress torn by the officers, while trying to pull her away from Uche Nwosu.

Senator Okorocha called on governor Uzodinma to step up and make public the names of those financing the insecurity in the state, saying that it will be a good thing.

On the persistent insecurity in Imo State, Senator Okorocha said that Governor Hope Uzodinma is simply facing the wrath of God after emerging as winner even as the most unpopular candidate in the election.

Senator Okorocha said that Uche Nwosu was the actual winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Imo State and the state is suffering because Governor Uzodinma wrestled out the mandate through the supreme court.

Senator Okorocha who revealed that Uche Nwosu has been freed by the police said that contrary to statements on the internet, the inspector general of Police did not order the arrest of his son-in-law.

He said that after the arrest, Uche Nwosu was taken to Enugu airport where a private jet was waiting to take them to Abuja. Okorocha further stated that it is a shameful act to have the police ‘abduct’ an innocent man, strip him off his clothing, handcuff him, take pictures of him and then send it to the governor.

He hovered said that the decision to press charges is left for Uche Nwosu whom he described as a man, while telling the interviewer that he has been quiet over a human right issue and will speak out some day.

So far, no statement has been mad by both Imo State Police command and the state government on the issue, with the press statement admitting the arrest of Uche Nwosu being the only statement from the police.

Meanwhile, Uche Nwosu who according to Senator Okorocha did not sleep in Police custody has been pictured on social media with his House of Representative Member, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo.

The video confirms his release and the fact that he is unhurt.

Different quarters of the media and general public have been calling on the state police command to make a statement ahead of various speculations, while all eyes will be on Governor Hope Uzodinma as he announces the names of those financing the unrest in Imo State by the 3rd of January, 2022.
