Nigeria’s Moses Simon has been named in the Best XI for the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Simon, alongside Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar, Ivory Coast’s Nicolas Pepe, was named in the Best XI following the conclusion of the AFCON group stage games on Thursday night.

In a 4-4-2 formation, the Football statistics website, Whoscored published the Best XI for AFCON group stage and Simon is deployed as an attacking midfielder with Pepe, Morocco’s Sofiane Boufal and Ivory Coast’s Ibrahim Sangaré.

Sierra Leone’s Kamara starts in goal and the back four contains Sudan’s Mustafa Karshoum, Senegal’s Bouna Sarr, Cameroon’s Nouhou Tolo and Senegal’s Pape Abou.

In the attack line, Aboubakar is paired with Tunisia’s Wahbi Khazri.

Meanwhile, the AFCON Round of 16 fixtures will commence on Sunday.
