former lawmaker and presidential hopeful under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, on Tuesday, called on major political parties in the country to zone their presidential ticket to the southeast for fairness and justice.

The presidential hopeful who made the call while interacting with selected journalists in Abuja noted that almost all geopolitical zones in the country have had their fair share of the zoning arrangement, except the South East.

He said “zoning is not the best. But we are not there yet, so there is a need for all zones to have a fair share. Zoning is very important for the development of Nigeria. Almost all geo-political zones have had their fair share of zoning, except the South East.

” In PDP’s constitution, there is power rotation. So, the PDP and other major political parties should zone to the South. And once they do that, then it should be micro zoned to the South-East”.

On the mode of the party’s primary election to choose a flag bearer, the Convener of New Nigeria Group (NNG) added, “I am in support of direct primary, let the people decide who they want. What is the competence level of aspirants that want to be President? What is the person’s character? And what is he coming up with? Nigerians and party members should be allowed to decide who has a superior strategy and mission to solve our problems.
