The Legal Adviser Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu has said that Imolites should apologize to Nigerian police and army for not speaking out when insecurity was rampaging the state.

Barr.  Kissinger Ikeokwu said that the activities of criminals which were initially seen as freedom fighting is the reason most communities cannot sleep with their eyes closed.

He said that instead of condemning the act most people were either silent or cheering the criminal who were unknown to everyone taking security agents out of their way for the bigger crime ahead.

“At this point we will all need to apologize to the men of the Nigerian Police Force for our refusal to speak up against those who attacked its officers and burnt police formations all around Imo State”

“It is now clear to all that criminals burnt those police formations in a bid to have easy run over our local communities.” he said.

He further stated that many in the local communities hailed the hoodlums as they burnt and attacked Police Divisions, thinking they were freedom fighters pursuing their cause.

” Little did they know that after the police and army, we are their easy prey. Now people in rural communities cannot sleep with their two eyes closed”

“Truth is we didn’t speak up enough and that is counted against us as silent support or condonation,” he added.

Meanwhile, a statement from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has it that Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu’s has falsified all statements aimed at blaming Governor Hope Uzodimma for the level of insecurity the state has witnessed recently.

The statement has it that rather than Gov. Hope Uzodimma, Barr. Ikeokwu has blamed the criminals who are the real perpetrators of the act in the state.

According to Dr. Paul Ezeafurukwe, the Director General Hope New Media, Ndị Imo are beginning to see reasons to unite to promote peace and unity in the state.
He sad that Barr. Ikeokwu’s statement confirms the relative silence of the PDP in the those dark days.
“While the statement confirms the relative silence of the PDP during the skirmishes that nearly overran Imo State, it also indicates that many more Imo people are beginning to see reasons to unite as Ndi Imo in the promotion of truth, development and the progress of our beloved State.”, Dr. Paul Ezeafurukwe said.
