A source told Nigeria Newspoint that Hon. Nwajiuba, a lawyer will run on the platform of the newly-registered All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was gathered that the ex-legislator is backed by some prominent power brokers including state governors and party officials.
Our source further disclosed that the unacceptability of some APC potential presidential aspirants to a large section of the country and the uncertainty of President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition makes Nwajiuba’s candidature a possibility.
Nigeria Newspoint was also told that a serving senator might be appointed the director of Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba Presidential Campaign Organization.
The erstwhile legislator contested the governorship elections in Imo State in 2003, 2007 and 2011.
Meanwhile as politicians strategize ahead of 2015 election, a non-political organization in the state, known as Freedom Voice of Imo, FVI has thrown its weight behind Chief Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba as the most credible candidate that can deliver the state from the current shackles of backwardness and poverty.
Rising from a recent meeting of the organization, members reiterated that Imolites have been clamouring for a leader, adding that the Freedom Voice of Imo, FVI has set the stage rolling in the search for leaders that would take the state to the promise land.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the coordinator of Freedom Voice of Imo, (FVI), Comrade Albert Nwarihi recalled that for years, Imolites have been clamouring for a leader, adding that the Freedom Voice of Imo is geared towards ensuring that credible people are elected into political positions in the state.
According to Comrade Nwarihi, the group has found Chief Emeka Nwajiuba worthy and credible for the number one citizen of Imo State come 2015 even as he beckons on Nwajiuba to forget his presidential ambition and come down and save the people of Imo.
The Deacon said the organization is not relenting in its quest to search for committed leaders that would represent the state in the National and State Assemblies and others, adding that Freedom Voice of Imo has members in all the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The coordinator regretted that Imo state parades rulers who are not devoted to the people, but are only out for their selfish gains, even as he described Chief Nwajiuba as the Moses of the present generation.
While calling on all and sundry to support the quest to enthrone Nwajiuba as the next governor for the state, Comrade Nwarihi advised Owerri zone to support the move and help Okigwe zone complete its eight years tenure, so that Owerri zone can take over in 2019.
He pledged that as the group has presented Chief Emeka Nwajiuba, so also it would present other candidates for other political offices in the state.
