President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration has zero-tolerance for kidnapping, especially when it concerns school children.

He also said he has directed the armed forces across the entire country to deal with security breaches, including terrorism aimed at disrupting the educational system.

The President’s reactions came against the backdrop of attacks in Kaduna State, where educational institutions have been the main targets.

Buhari said this while declaring the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC), summit open in Abuja.

He said, “We have zero tolerance for kidnapping, especially of school children and we shall deal with such outrages decisively. The disruption of our educational system and economic activities will not be tolerated”.

The President also explained that the cooperation of citizens would play invaluable roles in bringing law and order to various parts of the country.

On the issue of kidnapping which has assumed an alarming dimension, Buhari said he will not relent in efforts to tackle it once and for all.

“I have directed that all cases relating to security breaches, economic sabotage and wanton destruction of lives and property across the entire nation be immediately addressed.

“Let me add here that the Armed Forces have been deployed in virtually all states of the Federation to combat any security challenges,’’ he said.

He reiterated that the National Security Strategy 2019 was very clear on all of the issues related to safety, with the need for individuals, the private sector, civil society groups, media, politicians, traditional institutions and government functionaries to key into the endeavour.

He said, “This is the time to enhance Corporate Social Responsibility and giving back to the society.’’

The President equally spoke on the need for national cohesion, insisting that future leaders must be trained to effectively take over leadership.

”Above all, we must harness the strength in our diversity to ensure a cohesive and forward-looking nation”, he said.
