The state government has approved the enacting of a bill to stop oil theft in the state.

The information was released by the commissioner of information in the state, Hon. Declan Emelumba after a closed-door meeting with the governor and other members of the executive council.

The bill which is to fight oil theft in the state was approved and empowered by the executive council.

The executive council gave the ministry of petroleum and resources a go ahead order to come up with a bill that will be sent to the state assembly.

The bill is for the establishment of a local content management agency to monitor project-related activities across the oil and gas value chain.

As well as generate revenue for the state while also monitoring.
